Call For Papers

Papers for the workshop are now finalised. Please see the Programme link for details

Rationale

As Software Internationalisation is a comparatively new arrival in the academic community, AWSI2004 is designed to bring together industry practitioners - through experience reports highlighting the difficulties encountered - and academic experts in internationalisation and closely related fields - such as language technology and software engineering - through surveys and original research work highlighting the application of these disciplines in a structured approach to software internationalisation. Ideally, the workshop will be structured around complementary pairs of industry and academic presentations, with opportunities for extended discussion to follow.

Contributions

We invite contributions from industry practitioners and academics on any aspect of software internationalization. Suitable topics may include, but are not limited to:
  • Internationalisation workflows in software engineering processes
  • Developments in data definition and transformation technologies
  • Internationalisation of web services
  • Programming Language support for internationalisation
  • Applications of Natural Language Processing Technologies
  • Applications of machine learning to intelligent string management
  • Software Internationalisation and the Curriculum
The program will begin with an introductory tutorial overview, and a keynote address on the state of language technology research, and the potential for it to automate software internationalisation. We would, however, welcome additional surveys of specific topics such as those listed above, to supplement the ordinary papers and to help stimulate further research and collaboration in the area. Potential authors are encouraged to email the programme chair with any suggestions: j.hogan@qut.edu.au.
