Michael Middleton is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Information Systems at the Queensland University of Technology.

He presently leads the Information Use Research Group in the socio-technical systems program.

He joined the School in 1990. He has previously had academic appointments at University of New South Wales and W.A.C.A.E (now Edith Cowan University). These have been interspersed with  administrative appointments at the Australian Atomic Energy Commission where he was responsible for the International Nuclear Information System, the National Library of Australia, where he was responsible for the Australian Medline System and as deputy director of the library at Edith Cowan University.

His areas of research and scholarship are information management, information use analysis, and library systems, and he has made numerous presentations and published extensively in these areas. Recent publications include the books Information Management, and with Len Asprey, Integrative document and content management.
